
This is why we can’t have nice things. Here is a person complaining because their welfare check, which consists of money the government confiscates from private citizens, is going to be late, and they’re under pressure to pay their bills, which they cannot afford otherwise, because they do not have a job.
I graduated from the same Master’s program as this individual. When I finished my degree, I could not find a job commensurate with my previous work experience and education. I worked as a pizza delivery boy for over a year while I continued to apply. Eventually I got a full-time professional job and have been employed since. Taxes are taken out of my paycheck which support individuals like this.
I understand people lose jobs. I understand why there is a safety net. I also understand that if you make an effort, you can make ends meet, without having to rely on money forcefully taken from other people. I cannot process the arrogance required to believe you are entitled to other people’s money to provide for your own well-being.
